Creative Cloud Configurations – Hacking your way through the Cloud

Tyler Bithell

Cloud configurations can be tricky and require a level of creativity not traditionally seen in on-premises implementations. This presentation details three projects that underscore some inventive measures required by cloud implementations. In the first project, Azure is used to create a restore rehearsal/disaster recovery failover environment for a complex, multi version SharePoint environment. The second involves creating a hybrid Lync environment and using some tricks to get UCWA to work with Office 365 users. The third is a series of projects for OneDrive provisioning — before and after the API was available. The project covers both OneDrive provisioning and a login script for OneDrive mapping. The move to the clouds requires a new approach to development and configuration that may not always appear to be the most logical or efficient way to do things, but is required in order to get things done. IT professionals are learning this on a daily basis as the cloud becomes a bigger and bigger part of their lives.
